WE HAVE A DREAM... (March 31, 2016 update)

This is Trust with his son Craig. We helped Trust and his wife Modestar start a chicken business last year. They buy 100 - 150
chickens every 6 weeks, and carefully care for them until is is time to sell them as broiler. Their venture has been so successful, they have been able to pay for both their children's school fees, buy a freezer so they don't have to feed their chickens one day past 6 weeks, bought a stove, and a bicycle to help them get their feed and medicine. In addition, they have faithfully paid back their loan to HHTH. SO Trust has definitely lived up to his name.

Modestar seen here with their daughter Sharmaine has another dream. We helped her and Trust get started in a business that supports their family. Now this dream can be expanded to help her sister, who is divorced and unable to support her 4 children, make a living for her family. So, help can be passed on to another family.  HHTH is happy to lend a start to another person who is industrious and can make this sustainable project a huge success for herself and her children. It is a win-win for everyone.  SO WHAT IS THIS NEW DREAM?

it's called a Tuck Shop. These are tiny little neighborhood convenience shops. They sell mealie meal, soda pop, candy, milk, candles, sugar, rice, etc. many other things. We counted 165 people walk past this shop in less than an hour. You

HHTH took Trust and Modestar to a wholesale place to buy all their inventory.

It was such a joy to watch their excitement as they unloaded THEIR inventory. They had the little store cleaned and stocked within 2 hours!

The refrigerator is a necessity to keep pop, milk and other things cold because it sells easier. The temperature is stifling much of the time. No air conditioning in this dream.

Trust, Modestar, and Nyaradzo proudly stand in their shop. They are open 15 hours a day and work in shifts so they can take care of the chickens, care for the children and the house, and run the Tuck Shop. They asked me to say a blessing over the shop and their new dream.

CJ and I were their very first customers. We gave them a LOT of business! Their hope is to clear at least $10. a day as that will take care of this little family of four. Nyaradzo and her children will live with Trust and Modestar until enough is saved to build one room onto their existing house. This may seem small in our world, but it is huge for them. Trust and Modestar are hard working and very industrious.

CJ had the idea they could use part of Trust's and Modestar's names to come up with the name of Tru-Star for their shop and we right away had the sign made. Now more people come into the shop because they can see it from afar.

Modestar keeps impeccable books every day. This was a banner day - they grossed $75.!  This will give them at least $20. profit. So, in their terms, they are "happy cappies."

It was rewarding to watch their business grow right in front of our eyes.

As a last tidbit of note. This is Trust with his new bicycle. He now peddles it over to Zambia where he can get mealie meal and sell it for a nice profit.

Until the next time... From the Bush.
